This section describes what you must set up in Manufacturing, in order to export data to Graphical Planner. From there you can schedule your plan.
Use the checklist below, to ensure that you can use Manufacturing with Graphical Planner effectively.
Resources are essential to ensure that work is allocated correctly in the Graphical Planner sequencerGraphical Planner's virtual board on which to plan your schedules..
You can create resources in the Bill of Materials module through the Machine Register, Labour Register and Tool Register. These resources are required to make orders and produce stock.
Resources interact with Graphical Planner in the following way:
Note: Tool resources are not used in the current version of Graphical Planner. If you want to use tool resources in Graphical Planner, set these up currently as machine resources.
Resources can be:
Secondary Resources are automatically included in Graphical Planner's Sequencer. Whichever resource is not defined as Primary (in Manufacturing Planning Settings Graphical Planner tab) is assumed to be secondary. For example, if Machine is defined as primary, then Labour is assumed to be secondary and vice versa.
Secondary resource capacities can be entered directly in Graphical Planner.
Verify that your operation times, labour skills for the operation, and setup timeThe time to set up a machine or production unit to perform an operation.s for machines are accurate. This enables the Sequencer to reflect realistic information.
These are used to adjust the Production safety lead time in MRPMaterials Requirements Planning (MRP). MRP recommends purchase orders, transfers and work orders to balance supply and demand.. This time is displayed as a safety planning time in the Graphical Planner Sequencer.
Specify the Production safety lead time and Aggregate Demand settings which affect Graphical Planner. Enter the paths that define the configuration and export criteria for Graphical Planner.
Note: You do not need to release sales orders to make them available to the MPS module.
This creates a master production schedule: a list of all demands that apply in the planning horizon. You enter a Horizon Date when you read the demand.
Graphical Planner can import MRP recommendations, as well as existing works orders details. Running MRP lists all manufactured items as their component parts. It also calculates the total time needed to manufacture each item or batch, along with initial start and end dates for each job.
Note: This calculation in MRP does not take into account resource capacity - that is the job of Graphical Planner.
